Blommington's Westside Property Owners Demanding Denial of Mobile Home Park Expansion

The current mobile home site operates under a non-conforming "grandfather clause" zoning ordinance. Property owners in the area purchased homes with the safeguard in place preventing this park from ever growing further, in other words, the park would eventually dry up and go away and be developed to fit the surrounding area.

Within the last two years, the park became a participant in section 8 housing and the area has litterally become a wild west show. Daily visits by law enforcement, vandilism, theft and unruly children that will do most anything with no fear of law enforcement. The adjacent neighborhood compiled of 27 stick built homes have sustained the blunt of the blow from this park and it occupants. Now under new ownership, the current owner is petitioning the county for a PUD to more than double the size of the park to accomodate even more section 8 occupants. The entire area is staunchly against any expansion of the mobile home park. All existing units are in dire need of repair and maintainence and the lots are seldom mowed and cleaned up.

The area would welcome a proposal for development of the property with single family, stick built homes. That would be a huge improvement both visually and as it pretains to deterioriating propery values due to the existance of the park.
