Objection to resubmitted proposal of development of Bill Quay land

*************** INFO ***************
Gateshead Council are currently taking views online at http://public.gateshead.gov.uk/online-applications, use the reference DC/17/01267/FUL to lodge an objection.

Postal objections can be sent to:-
(The Planning Officer for Proposed Gentoo Development at Gullane Close, Bill Quay), Gateshead MBC, Communities & Environment (Department of Planning), Civic Centre, Regent Street, Gateshead, NE8 1HH.

***********************************

Gateshead MBC have notified a very small number of local residents that they have decided to accept a renewed planning application they have received from Gentoo housing to develop land next to Gullane Close and Marian Drive for residential purposes. The proposed development is for 30 dwellings.

Many residents will remember previous attempts to gain planning permission for the same piece of land, all of which ended in refusal because the land and surrounding access is unsuitable. One such previous major refusal was ruled upon by the then Secretary of State for the Environment, Transport, and the Regions in London (to view the decision letter click here). This is yet another attempt to develop the land and ignore the key reasons previously ruled upon, none of which have changed.

The key thing to note in this case is that if you have previously objected to the last planning development submission by Gentoo, that objection does not count for this new round of planning submission - you must submit a new objection either via post or on the Gateshead Council Planning Portal webpage (to visit click here) using the new planning reference of DC/17/01267/FUL.

As well as submitting an objection via the Gateshead Council Planning Portal or post, please take a moment to register your opposition via this petition whether you are a local resident or someone who cares about fighting for areas of wildlife and green open spaces - it is a simple process to fill out the form on the right-hand side of the screen, and only takes a minute!

You can also share the petition with friends and family via Facebook, Twitter, or email - every share makes a difference!

Thanks.

Update #25 years ago
Hi Petitioners,
Residents and ward councillors representing opposition to the application spoke at the Gateshead Council Planning Committee meeting on 09/05/18. The Committee have deferred a final decision until a site visit to the field is carried out; the date for this is 24/05/18 at 10:15am.
Residents are keen for people to show up for the visit to voice their opposition to the development. A further Residents meeting has been arranged for 25/05/18 at 19:00pm at Bill Quay Methodist Church.

Hi Petitioners,

Thanks for all of your ongoing support which is much appreciated. Just to let you know, Gateshead Council are recommending approval of the proposal which may be heard by the full planning committee on the 9th May 2018.

As well as this petition, there have also been 290 individual letters of opposition and 3 residents meetings, with over 190 people present.

We will continue fighting this proposal, and will let you know how things progress in the coming weeks.
