Owner deliberately runs over chihuahua. Demand jail time!!

Michael David Parker was arrested by Hawthorne Police on December 28, 2013, on animal cruelty charges for deliberately running over his dog. A resident alerted authorities after discovering the dead animal in an alley and checking a surveillance video. Animal Control, Lt. Scott Swain, and a detective responded and were horrified by what they saw.

The video shows the man get out of his car and open the trunk. He then re-enters his car, and a little dog runs forward and stops in the center of the alley. “Parker backs his vehicle up, and then appears to accelerate rapidly, steering directly toward the dog,” Swain said. “It’s a little poor defenseless dog and the guy just runs right over it and leaves and doesn’t offer any help.” A second video shot from the rear of the car shows the dog writhing on the ground until it dies. “It’s gruesome,” Swain said. “It starts bleeding, his little back leg twitching...”

At the time of his arrest, Parker admitted he is in the video but that it was an accident.  Sources say that Parker allegedly became enraged when his ex-wife refused to sign their house over to him, and he threatened to harm her and her family.

Parker was released from jail after posting $20,000 bail. He is scheduled to be arraigned March 25, 2014. This petition is to urge Richard Doyle, Head Deputy for the Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office, to seek jail time for Parker if he is found guilty.  As a concerned animal lover, I will attend his arraignment. I am seeking 3000 signatures to illustrate the level of disgust over Parker's inhumane act. I appreciate your support.

This incident was run on all of the L.A. new programs. The video is too disturbing to include, but you may view it on YouTube with a search for Owner Runs Down Pet Chihuahua in Hawthorne, CA.

Update #19 years ago
Update on Parker deliberately running over wife's dog.His initial plea of "not guilty" went to "no contest" in a deal offered by the D.A. to avoid a jury trial, netting him16 mos. in prison. The Judge commented that this was the worst case of animal abuse he has tried, and he would have given him 5 yrs. for Felony Animal Abuse if it had gone to trial and he was found guilty. Kudos to ABC Channel 7 for their coverage, to the folks who picketed. and to YOU!
