Say No To Chip Sealing Our Roads!!!

The INDOT has decided to chip seal every road in and out of Salem, Indiana. While they state cost is the reason they do it to maintain the life of the roads, we say "No" to maintain the life of our vehicles! Indiana is also heavily trafficked by motorcyclists, not only by people who live here, but visit or pass through here. The process creates loose gravel that is not safe to motorcyclists, who could potentially lay their bike down due to the gravel. As an avid motorcycle rider, I want protection for not only myself, to be able to come home safely to my family, but for my family to come home safely to me. My husband often takes my children on charity rides. My friends and family members are also at risk, as we are a large family and community of riders. Many vehicles are at risk, as well. Windshields and paint jobs also suffer, due to this process. People who have complained to the INDOT have been told that they need to turn those types of claims into their (the motorist) insurance, and they will not be affected. Not true, says one motorists. Another person claims that INDOT won't cover the cost of repair to their tires or paint, that have been damaged, due to the loose gravel created by the chip seal. INDOT says tires are not affected by this process, and damage done to windows, windshields, and paint can't be proven that it was the chip seal that created the damage. Bicyclist, have also stated this process is hard on them as well. This process may save the state or federal government money, but does the lives of their citizens have to be affected before they realize this process is not good for this area???
