He Threw a Cat Down a Seven-Story Garbage Chute!

An Australian man was convicted of two counts of animal abuse and yet will only pay a small fine and do community service. His crime? Throwing an innocent cat down a seven-story garbage chute!

The man's logic is horrifying: he didn't like that his girlfriend gave her cat attention. That means this man was so jealous of a pet that he decided to torture it and nearly kill it! The cat was a two-year-old Ragdoll name is Hibala and fortunately, he lived through the experience, but not without major suffering.

Hibala spent 6 days in the animal hospital with extensive injuries; including, according to the treating vet, "a fractured tail, cuts exposing the bone in the tail, missing fur and severe inflammation". It turns out that after the man got jealous of the cat and threw it down the garbage chute, he decided not to get it medical help. That means the Hibala suffered for some time before receiving the care he needed for this gross mistreatment. His tail was broken and part of it was dying when the cat finally saw a doctor, it ended up needing to be mostly amputated.

Thankfully the man no longer has access to Hibala and his owner, the perpetrator's former girlfriend. He is also not allowed to adopt any animals in the future. While this is a step in the right direction, it's just not enough when it comes to this kind fo violent crime. This person abused a cat out of jealousy for the attention the animal got from his owner, obviously this is just a hop, skip and jump away from the man inflicting abuse on humans who stir his jealousy!
