To combat the economic fallout from the COVID-19 pandemic, Congress has passed an economic stimulus four times greater than the one enacted in 2009 stop the bleeding of the great recession. While Mitch McConnell, Donald Trump, and their Republican allies made sure that hundreds of billions would go to wealthy individuals and corporations that didn't need it, the package contained much-needed relief for families, children, and small businesses.
But there's a big problem. Those funds are being administered by the Trump administration.
First, the funds meant to prop up small businesses and prevent mass job loss was gobbled up so fast by giant corporations that the program ran out of money before many in need could even apply much less secure the cash to keep people working.
Then, and perhaps even more egregiously, we learned that the administration delayed delivery of vital stimulus payments to tens of millions of Americans so that Trump's name could be printed on the checks. This is an unprecedented act of egotistical campaign gimmickry that will cause prolonged suffering nationwide as those in the most need await the promised funds they need to provide for their families.
This is exactly what you should expect from the narcissistic sociopath in the White House, and we must refuse to tolerate it.
