Stop the Annual Alarm Registration Fees

To the Antioch City Council-
We the below signed Antioch resident petitioners request an end to the consideration of an annual fee for the registration of home alarm systems versus the prior one time registration fee. Antioch is home to mostly low and middle income residents that do not need an additional financial burden of yet another monthly or annual tax (fee). We understand that false alarms can be a drain upon our police services. Yet we as conscientious residents believe we are doing above and beyond our responsibilities as a good community citizen to be the ones that have under gone the additional burden and expense of installing home alarm systems, many with cameras and door bell cameras that offer not only deterrents to thieves, but information to our neighbors and police for prosecution of crimes. We further feel it is reasonable for the city to charge a reasonable fee ($150.00 or less) to those residents that occur more than 2 false alarm calls to their property in a year. Perhaps an increasing scale for the fourth and beyond false alarm calls. We do not believe that the responsible citizens should bear the burden of those with less consideration to our community and its protection. We further do not agree with hiring an outside firm or consultant that has no interest in preservation of our community but only a profit consideration. We put forth these signatures to oppose vehemently the support for the city council to change the current one time charge for alarm permit registration to an annual fee. If the city council moves forward with the fee change to an annual permit, then the below petitioners will move for a city wide vote of this policy.
