I created a website to explain the motivation behind this petition. Please visit the website for updated information.
As a community of conscience, we call on the Siri Singh Sahib Corporation (SSSCorp) and Akal Security, Inc., to immediately divest from all financial interest in ICE in order to end any profiting or appearance of profiting from mass incarceration & detention. We also call on SSSCorp and Akal Security to eliminate any business relationships, associations, and contracts associated with the detention of human beings in the prison-industrial complex, which disproportionately affects communities of color including immigrants and now asylum seekers. The non-profit Sikh Dharma ministry already performs seva in these detention spaces for humanitarian purposes, which is the appropriate vehicle to perform this function.
Further, we call on SSSCorp to immediately establish a system of transparency by which the members of our community may review the fiscal practices between the SSSCorp and its associated for-profit and non-profit businesses for the sole purpose of evaluating the source of financing for our 3HO activities.
This is OUR community. We must hold ourselves accountable for its shape and its integrity. Let us seek change from a place of compassion, trust, and consciousness. Let our actions going forward be aligned with Aquarian Age principles of openness, collaboration, inclusion, and upliftment.
Update #54 years ago
I have created two videos about the petition effort. “Child Separations and Kundalini Yoga” (https://youtu.be/hsjnzjFjA0Y) explains the origin of the controversy and the response by leadership. “Akal and ICE: presentation to Khalsa Council” (https://youtu.be/fhYQuHMhkcc) is the PowerPoint presentation I gave to the Khalsa Council on Sept. 27, 2018. Please share.

Please visit the website for a very important update about a meeting I attended in Espanola, NM, regarding the petition. The update is too long to include here.
Update #35 years ago
Today I emailed the petition with 202 signatures to the Siri Singh Sahib Corporation board president. Thanks to your participation, there is a great deal of discussion underway in our community regarding this issue. Let us continue to spread the word, raise consciousness, and gather signatures.
Update #25 years ago
This is the first update in a month since I was away from social media due to a personal matter. There have been two significant reports published recently: one specifically about Akal and its role in ICE; another about the changes in ICE under the current administration. Please view the website (link in petition) under UPDATES for details. I intend to deliver the petition in September, depending upon various factors. Please continue to publicize it on social media and among your community.
Update #15 years ago
In only one week more than 100 people have signed the petition. Please continue to share the information on social media and in emails. If people have questions, please direct them to the website linked from the petition. Thank you for your ongoing support and participation.
