Oppose the parole of suspected murderer and habitual felon Camiel Bryce Vanhaecke!

Camiel Bryce Vanhaecke, Michigan Department of Corrections inmate number 368742, is a habitual felon and the main person of interest in the disappearance and suspected murder of Leah Harding. In 2001, Vanhaecke was convicted of kidnapping and assault with a dangerous weapon. Vanhaecke was granted parole in 2014 prior to serving his full sentence. During the year following his release from prison, Vanhaecke made numerous parole violations and was placed in a county jail as a result, but his parole was never revoked and his manipulative, abusive, and criminal behavior continued.

In April 2015, Leah Harding was last seen alive arguing with Vanhaecke. Vanhaecke has always been and remains the main person of interest in the disappearance and suspected murder of Leah Harding, whose whereabouts remain unknown nearly three years after she was last seen alive with Vanhaecke.  While a court of law has neither charged nor convicted Vahaecke with the disappearance and suspected murder of Leah Harding, the court of public opinion has.  Leah Harding's body has not been found and the investigation is ongoing.

In the weeks following Leah Harding's disappearance and suspected murder in 2015, Vanhaecke was arrested and later convicted of home invasion.  Vanhaecke is currently in prison for this conviction. Vanhaecke is eligible for parole on March 8, 2018.  If Vanhaecke's first prison sentence didn't "reform" him, I am highly doubtful that his second and much shorter prison sentence has.  Furthermore, Vanhaecke remains the main person of interest in the still unsolved case regarding the disappearance and suspected murder of Leah Harding.

As someone who is deeply concerned about Vanhaecke's past and potential threat to public safety and as the brother of Leah Harding as well as an uncle to Leah's 8-year-old daughter, a young girl who has to grow up and go through life without her mommy and best friend, I urge you to sign this petition requesting that the Michigan Department of Corrections Parole Board deny parole to habitual felon and suspected murderer Camiel Bryce Vanhaecke.
