"Two Sumner County homeowners have been charged with animal cruelty after police found several puppies in cage suffering from heat exhaustion," reported Fox News.

"According to the incident report, seven puppies barely two-weeks-old had been left in a cage for several hours with no food, no water, and their mother being unable to feed them.

"The officer states over half of the 7 puppies appeared to not be moving so the officers moved the cage into shade to try and cool them off. They then put the pups in the air conditioned police vehicle to further cool them off and let the mother try to feed them, an effort which was unsuccessful since the mother seemed to have mastitis -inflammation of the lactation tissue which can be caused by infection.

"Once at animal control, the officer reports they tried to douse the puppies with water and one puppy did not have a heartbeat. The officers attempted chest compression with no success. Police arrested James C. Null and Crystal L. Williams on charges of animal cruelty, dog running at-large, and no rabies vaccinations," according to the same source.

What kind of human beings could abandon a litter of puppies, just two weeks old, to suffer and die from exposure, without the love of their mama?

This was evil. And they should be punished.

Senator Bernie Sanders has been a long-term advocate for animal rights, and has co-sponsored numerous pieces of legislation to protect endangered species, as well as to combat animal cruelty.

That's why we're asking him to lead a movement in Congress that would punish convicted animal abusers severely.

Don't you want to protect helpless animals from the likes of these two?

Then add your name to ask Bernie Sanders to take charge of this issue and impose strict punishments on people who abuse animals!
