These hikers also noted a group of youngsters near the dead animal; the man yelled and the kids fled. The animal appeared to have been stoned to death, with large rocks tossed about near its’ body. This witness contacted authorities to report the incident.

State wildlife officials say people can provide information about the crime anonymously to the agency's tip line at 1-800-662-3337. The untimely death of this young cat needs to be dealt with and the culprits brought to justice.
The Wildlife officials state that it is always wise to keep your distance from a wild animal while hiking, giving them the respect and space they need and deserve. In most cases, they do not want to be around you as much as you don’t want to be around them. In this case, it appears the animal was particularly targeted which is a crime.
