Save Marshall House Shelter

Wood Buffalo Housing (WBH) announced the Alberta government will no longer fund the Marshall House Emergency Homeless Shelter.

Informed on Oct. 31 by the province, the group said the decision is due to the shelter operating below capacity for a number of years.

Therefore, Marshall House will close on Jan. 31, 2020.

Above excerpt taken from My McMurray article by Phil Wood (Nov 1st, 2019)

Please sign this petition to keep this "very needed" community shelter open.

Thank you

Update: January 31st, 2020

I contacted Christine Mackay, Manager & Communications of Wood Buffalo Housing. She informed me that Marshall House Homeless Shelter will still be closing as of January 31st, 2020.

I have sent Minister Rajan Sauhney updates of our petition only to recieve automated responces.

Our petition will remain open.

The unfortunate approaching effects of Marshall House Homeless Shelter closing in our community will be visible and difficult for our City and Provincial politicians to ignore.

To date we have 632 signatures.

Please encourage people to sign this petition.

Thank you.

I've just sent another update of our petition to Minister Rajan Sawhney.
To date we have 626 signatures. I recently took a tour of Marshall House and talked with the staff about the closure. I also talked with one staff of The Salvation Army. All agreed that Marshall House is needed and its functions can't be replaced.
