Since March 30 thousands of Gazans have been participating in the Great March of Return,a series of demonstrations whose original intent was to bring attention to the plight of the civilians in Gaza and to their desire to return to their homeland.The Israeli government alleges that there has been a violent undercurrent to the otherwise peaceful protests although throughout more than 3 months of protests near the fence no single Israeli soldier or civilian reported any injuries from the protests. The IDF argues that its use of lethal ammunition and overuse of tear gas has been in response as riot dispersal means.Over 120 Gazans have been killed,many thousands injured some maimed for life.Many medics and press some of them foreign have been injured with a few fatalities.There have been live feeds from the Gaza side but none of these news channels or independent journalists dared to film close to the fence.The Israeli government has released multiple undated vague videos without specifying further details on the dates and locations of incidents. The videos show what the IDF suggest to be improvised explosive devices, attempted breaches, slingshots, molotov cocktails and incendiary kites that have set fire to large swaths of land inside of Israel.(thousands of acres)The government of Israel is using such footage to justify its actions.The IDF claims that the protests endanger well-hidden out-of-reach Israeli soldiers and heavily guarded close-by Jewish communities which are surrounded by more layers of fence and bolstered by military presence.What the Israeli government has not done has been to allow the world to see what is going on at the fence in real time.The area on the Israeli side is a closed military zone.
