My best friend has an urgent matter. Mystique, a pit bull, was shot twice for allegedly "biting" a 15 year old who has no evidence of a bite and no medical care was provided. Also, police did not look for evidence of a bite mark until a week after the incident took place on 10/12. The father of the 15 year old went pacing the neighborhood to find the dog.
Once he saw her, he shot her on her own property.
All of this happened while the family was out and about running errands. Her gate was opened prior to the incident and a neighbor across the street closed it prior to Animal Control getting there. Once Animal Control got there, Red, a 12 year old pit bull, supposedly lunged at AC when they went into his yard. He was scared because his sister was just shot. Red was released the next day.
Mystique was quarantined for 10 days and was reunited with her family on Tuesday, 10/22 just to be turned back over on 10/23, along with Red because they were deemed dangerous by the city of Killeen, TX. The appeal process had been started and we are now waiting for the court date—10/29.
If the appeal is thrown out, the dogs will be euthanized and the charges on the father for shooting a firearm within city limits will be dropped. These dogs need justice and the father deserves to pay for his lousy judgment. We're hoping with enough signatures, the dogs will be released back to their loving family. Please help us save these babies!!
