Inhumane Killing of Birds to Train Retrievers

There are many ways to train a dog to hunt and retrieve besides trapping semi-tame pigeons to be brutally killed with lines tied to their legs all in the name of "training". It is inhumane and cruel. One trainer came into my neighborhood to a neighbors lot (with her permission) to trap and kill by training their dogs with birds I have fed for 23 years and when I told him to be sure and not get on my property, he intimated that he would bring a gun with him. Their are children and family pets in this neighborhood and we are concerned that the children will be traumatized by his actions and someone's family pet )small dog or cat will be killed possibly with the child watching. Also, these birds are semi tame and hurting no one. Aside from all of this, an authority and Federally licensed bird rehabilitator says the birds will be so traumatized by the trapping procedure, they will most likely die within hours of being trapped. Also, a local police officer indicated that most people who use these inhumane training aids (and usually train their dogs with instilled fear and punishment for incorrect actions) often are abusers of family members and contact with them should be avoided if possible. Purchasing a hunting dog from one of these trainers is not something I would do. I have nothing against hunters or dog trainers, but use of inhumane training practices could produce a dog that is less than desireable (does not know how to "soft mouth" a bird and retrieve).
