Demand BC Premier Ban Logging in the Walbran Valley

The Walbran Valley is home to trees some of the oldest trees in BC, some dating back to 1215. The BC government has recently issued a permit to Teal Jones to log 3.2 hectares of this irreplaceable forest.

By signing now you help protect old growth forest - a vital, majestic and irreplaceable ecosystem.

The Walbran Valley has been the source of controversy for years. Anti-logging activists were successful in the 90s in preventing logging in the some of the Walbran Valley. This action led to the creation of the Carmanah Walbran Provincial Park, a 16000 hectare park in the Walbran Valley.

However, the BC government recently issued a permit to the Teal Cedar Group, a logging company, for 3.2 hectares of logging just east of the park. This area also contains ancient trees that are completely irreplaceable.

Local municipalities have vocally come out against the logging, citing that it will harm their local economies that depend on tourists coming to visit the old trees. Environmentalists have been opposed to the logging for over 20 years, vowing to protect the land from further logging activity.

Sign now to stand with BC residents in their fight against logging in the Walbran Valley.

To the Honourable Christy Clark,

We, the undersigned, are asking that you immediately revoke the permit given to Teal Cedar Group for logging of 3.2 hectares in the Walbran Valley and that you institute a logging ban for the entire Walbran Valley.

We understand that the Walbran Valley is not only an irreplaceable and vital forest ecosystem but a consistent source of economic income for the surrounding municipalities. A revokation of the permit and a permanent ban on logging in the area will preserve economic stability and environmental integrity in the area.
