This Petition addresses the plan to open a Marijuana Factory in Paterson without taking into account the general consensus of residents. The area is comprised of schools, religious houses of worship and small businesses struggling to attract shoppers from all over the state.
The anticipated factory is not planning to sell directly to consumers at this point, but laws are evolving rapidly and legalization of recreational marijuana is inevitable. There is no guarantee that such factories will not be allowed to open their own outlets in the future. The issue of drug abuse remains a major concern for the community.
We urge our elected officials to focus their efforts on fighting this fatal drug epidemic and partner with our community to increase awareness and to stand with us against the controversial and polarizing factory that is planned to open in the heart of our community.
