COTO should reduce annual membership fees for 2020/21

As Registered Occupational Therapists through the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario (COTO), we are very concerned about COTO's recent decision not to consider a financial relief measure--other than delaying payment of the regular annual fee until August 2020--as a result of Covid-19. COTO has the largest membership in the country compared to other regulatory OT colleges, and also has the highest fees. Many OTs have faced financial hardship during Covid-19, and/or have continued working while placing themselves and their families at risk. You may wish to examine COTO's excellent financial position with $1.5 million in a contingency reserve fund as per their 2019 Annual Report: https://annualreport.coto.org/financial-summary/

Please sign this petition if you feel COTO should consider lowering their 2020/21 annual fee. #we're all in this together

Please forward this petition to your Occupational Therapy network.  Please include at least your first name below, and YOU MUST BE AN OT TO SIGN.

Update #13 years ago
Dear OTs who signed the COTO petition,
We would like to thank all of you for your support! Yes, we received bad news from COTO today around their refusal to give us financial relief. We will now escalate the issue with the Director of the Health Workforce Regulatory Oversight body. RIGHT NOW, I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT ALL 1209 OTS CONTACT COTO TO ARRANGE TO PAY YOUR FEE IN INSTALLMENTS. We will be back in touch with you with more news. Send your questions to: otsseekingrelief@gmail.com
