Soon after he took office, President Biden put an end to Trump's deeply inhumane policy of herding migrant families into for-profit detention centers, to be abused and exploited by private companies on the taxpayer dime.
But now some within his administration are pushing to restart the policy, provoking a loud and widespread backlash from prominent Democrats and other factions within the White House.
Tell Biden to treat immigrants with kindness and welcome, not imprisonment!
Trump's family detention centers were notoriously abusive towards their immigrant charges; ICE agents often locked families in freezing cold rooms to the point that their skin turned blue and lawsuits accuse ICE guards of "systematically" sexually assaulting inmates.
Thankfully, no decisions have been made yet — so it's up to us to raise our voices and let the president and his team know that we won't tolerate a return to the bad old days. Immigrants must be treated humanely!
