No Change to Green Bay Divers Access!

The Mayor of Paralimni has decided unilaterally and without consultation to stop vehicular access to Green Bay. The impact of this on the scuba diving industry in eastern Cyprus will be devastating!

Because of the heavy equipment, dive schools need to be able to park close to the water's edge and use their vehicles to help divers into their equipment. This will not be possible under current plans.

Many divers at Green Bay are first time divers, including children, who need assistance, supervision and must not be left unattended. This will be impossible under current plans.

The proposed slipway access into the water is unsuitable and unsafe for first time divers. The area of water near the slipway is also unsuitable for training exercises.

The proposed drop-off and parking arrangements will not work because people will, without doubt, park where they should not and cause additional problems. There are already parking problems in July and August and these new plans will just add to those problems.

The dive schools and divers of eastern Cyprus demand that the Mayor of Paralimni urgently stops and rethinks these plans and consults with the local diving community on the way forward.
