Save Hendersonville's Mosaic

Help to save this amazing piece of art that has brightened the heart of downtown Hendersonville for 25 years!

The Hands On Children's Museum is planning an expansion and, as per the current plan and rendering, the large, colorful mosaic on Main Street will be destroyed.

Hands On Children's Museum is located at 318 N Main St, Hendersonville, NC 28792.

This important art piece was created and gifted to our city by artist, Vasily Polevoy, when he resided here. The beautiful, monumental mosaic is 18 ft. x 18 ft. and is made of costly Byzantine enamel (this is glass, not ceramic tile). It depicts and reflects the natural wonders of our area - our mountains, rivers and lakes, our waterfalls, flora and fauna, and our four glorious seasons.

Hands On plans to replace this treasure with signage. See the rendering of their new design here:

The Hands On Children's Museum is a community-supported organization and they are actively seeking feedback from the community on the Museum's new design.

Please sign this petition to let the Hands On Executive Director and Board of Directors know that Hendersonville's residents value this important and irreplaceable piece of art and don't want to see it destroyed!

There must be a way for Hands On to preserve this treasure, and allow it to co-exist with their signage.

Please share this petition with your friends and neighbors!

And please note that only your first name and last initial will appear publicly online when you signt.
