What the hell?
"The United States Tennis Association asked broadcasters of the U.S. Open to censor any protests or reaction to President Donald Trump's appearance at the men's singles final...
"'We ask all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President's attendance in any capacity,' the USTA said in the memo.'" (source)
Are you kidding me? Presidents ALWAYS get a fan reaction at any sports event, tennis or otherwise. And it's usually met with a good natured laugh or smile. Is Trump's ego really so fragile that he can't do the same? And is the USTA so eager to appease Trump, that they have to try to squelch a few boos from being televised?
Look, we get not showing protracted protests or streakers or whatever else might seriously cut into game time and take away attention from the atheletes. But a few seconds of boos? It's the "US" Open, can't we at least pretend that we're still in America and have at least a little freedom left?
