Dozens of white men, from the Congressional Republican Freedom Caucus, sitting around a conference table in the White House, cutting a deal REMOVING required maternity health care proviisons from any new health care law.
And there's not a woman in sight as these men make this far-reaching, despicable, life-or-death decision.
With no thought or consideration, Congressional Republicans are willing to sell-out women by callously eliminating the mandated maternity health care provisions in Obamacare. Under Obamacare -- the Affordable Care Act -- all insurers were required, by law, to provide maternity health benefits to all women.
The Republican Party, the Freedom Caucus, and the Trump Adminstration have now made it clear they'd rather save dollars than save the lives of women and their children. That's why, at their White House meeting, they dealt out guaranteed maternity health care for America's families.
And Republican members of Congress are continuing to attack women's health. One aging Senator -- Senator Roberts from Kansas -- even said he didn't know why men should have to pay for women's mammograms.
Even though their health care bill has been delayed, Congressional Republican leaders, members of the Republican Freedom Caucus, and the Trump Adminstration, are still committed to stripping mandated maternity health care benefits as part of any new package.
We must send Congress, and the Trump Administration, an unmistakable message: Stop MANipulating guaranteed maternity health care. And, in the future, make sure you have women at every table to speak up and speak out on their health needs.
