Zoo in Oklahoma due to failed inspections that show repeat offenses of animal neglect and unsanitary conditions. The U. S. Department of Agriculture has continually inspected the zoo, asking for specific changes that went ignored at the facility. The lives and health of the animals are in danger due to the findings.
The U. S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) presented documented reports to PETA, clearly show repeat offenses of unsanitary conditions and animal neglect at the G. W. Zoo in Wynnewood, Oklahoma. Despite various inspections, zoo management ignored requests for improvements. The USDA states that the G.W. Zoo is a chronic violator of the Animal Welfare Act.
Some documented findings on the USDA report, shared with PETA, stated that a couple of dead rats were found dead and decomposed in a bin with other live rats and mice. Rodent droppings were noted in and near the primate’ food and water. A tiger enclosure was in full sun with no shade shelter. Raw meat was exposed where it could attract insects. Feed buckets were filthy and unsanitary. Past inspections revealed that the zoo also failed to provide veterinary care to four juvenile bears who had suffered from untreated skin conditions for months. Other documented issues involved a 2013 tiger attack, deaths of two tiger cubs in May of 2013 and several other baby tiger deaths over a seven month period between 2009 and 2010. PETA clearly stated that “Inspection after inspection has revealed filthy conditions and neglected animals at the decrepit G.W. Zoo.” PETA and the USDA state that they have a factsheet detailing G.W. Zoo’s long history of cruelty to animals, with the documents readily available for review.
Help us in our efforts to save these animals and close down the G. W. Zoo through the signing and sharing of this petition. These animals need intervention and deserve better care and treatment.
USDA – After continual and repeat inspections that never show any improvements at the G. W. Zoo, we encourage you to shut them down and have the animals placed where they will receive the care they need and deserve. All the reports and documents clearly state the findings of unsanitary, neglectful conditions at the zoo. Save these animals from these horrific, disgusting conditions.
