Say no to wolfhunt in Sweden

In 2013 the Swedish government decided that it should happen -  wolfhunt. In Sweden we have a long history of fear for the wolf, out of no reasons but scary stories and economic losses.

Fortunately the EU commission and many NGO's reacted strongly against the wolfhunt in 2013. The athoritys of Sweden claimed that the purpose for the hunt was to better up the genetic variation within the wolfpack of Sweden. The poorly genetic variation has its reasons- under the 1800th century the wolf was extint in Sweden, down to one last indiviudual who was called "the last wolf of Sweden"- and the species was declared endagered in 1966.

A decision, made in december 2013, was that 30 wolves by a license hunt should be shot starting by 1st of february 2014. In Scandinavia (sweden-norway) there is about 370 wolf individuals in total and according to experts, such as predatorecologists and biologists, there should be at least 500 reproductive individuals in the Swedish wolfpack for it to be looked at as a sustainable level for their future existense. The Swedish government thinks it's enough with 270 wolves.

Sweden is also a member of the EU and therefore is also bound to follow the regulations that involves endagered species and habitat. Please help me to ask for the help of the EU commission to take serious action against Sweden and help to stop the hunting of wolves.

Now it is time again, only that now the licensed hunt is aiming to eliminate up til 90 animals of total 370 individuals (which also include the wolfs in parts of Norway) in the country of Sweden under winter 2015!
This has to stop now as predators is extremly important to the ecological balance in our ecosystems.

Please help to share the petition as it is urgent to take a stand!

Thanks!

Dear EU commission on Environment,

I'm writing to you with concerns for the Swedish wolfpack. The government has decides that in winter 2015 there will be a licensed hunt.

As you probably know, the government has now for some time done everything to make up a reason for allowing wolfhunt. This despite the fact that they are required to comply with the directive within species protection available for EU member countries.

I would like to ask of you that you take serious actions against this wolfhunt and Swedens predator-politics, which recently concluded that 270 wolves is enough for the Sweden wolfpack to be looked at as a sustained level. This although experts in predatorecology and biologists think that the Swedish wolfpack should contain at least 500 reproductive individuals to be looked at as a sustained population. In winter 2015 they now aim to shot 90 wolfs - around 25% of the total population! You have to take action now -  bring Sweden to court and end the licensed hunt.

Yours Sincerely

It is with sorrow, I have to inform you that there has been proven a licensed hunt on wolves in Sweden this year of 2015. So far 21 of Swedens around 370 wolves has been shot.
I hope this licensed hunt will stop as soon as possible, but my hopes aren't very high this time. However, I am greatful for your continued support for the wolves in Sweden and that someday wildlife management can be based on scientific foundations.

Dear Signers,

I will keep this petition open for as long as it is possible. The hunt was stopped this year, but I fear that there is still a need to keep this petition open. I did also send the petition to the EU commissioner and got a reply. Unfortunately they only stated that they at that moment was not going to ac, however they claim to have the situation of the wolfs in Sweden under surveillance. I am thanking all of you who have signed and I hope that more continue to do so.

Dear Signers,

Thank you so much for the support!!

I just wanted to clear something out as a few comments gives critic to the European Commission.
That's not what we want to do. We want to send them a message that we think its necessary that they, once and for all, takes measures against the Swedish government and the decision to allow wolves to be shot in a license hunt.

Once again, many thanks for your support.
I'll keep you posted:)

Yours Sincerely

Hi again!

The hunt has been temporarily stopped but there is still a need to speak up for a longterm change of how the Swedish government is handling the wolfmanagement.
