Keep Us Safe from Pesticides in Bread!

More than 60 per cent of bread in the United Kingdom contains traces of pesticides. We deserve to know for sure that our bread won't make us ill!

According to the government's expert committee on pesticide residues in food, more than two-thirds of bread loaves on the shelves in our country contain remnants of poisons used to kill bugs by the millions. A quarter of bread has more than one type of pesticide. And though people in charge claim these levels are safe, other experts say there just hasn't been enough testing to know for certain.

Given the fact that many of us are ingesting small amounts of toxins every day with our breakfast, we deserve to know exactly what effects those poisons are going to have on our health or our children's.

Pesticide use in the U.K. grows more common every year. The government can't keep trying to ignore that eventually, those chemicals are going to make their way into our food -- and into our bodies.

Ask Defra to do more testing on Britain's bread contamination to make absolutely sure we're not being harmed -- and to get pesticides out of as much of our food as possible.
