Reform Patient Transport policy in the UK

This is a picture of my mother's foot. The Patient transport Service in Norfolk UK have refused her transport to hospital because they say she can walk. Would you want anyone to walk on a wound like this? Please read on ....

My mom is an 88 yr old lady who now lives in a home. She moved there two years ago because of an ulcerated foot. It started to get better last year, but this year the policy for accessing NHS transport was changed and responsibility taken away from GP's and clinics, so people who are vulnerable, like my mother, have to pay for their own transport. My mom cannot afford this. The PTS keep refusing her transport because she can walk and take a taxi, but her foot has rotted away and she is still being refused.

I want to send the British government a message from everyone in the UK who believes that our parents have a right to dignity and respect in the last years of their lives.

A phone operator cannot see the wound my mother has and they do not care that she should not walk. I want to take away responsibility for PTS from phone operators and give it back to the GP's and clinics who know what is going on with patients.

If we do not demand respect for our elders then what then is there for us, the next generation of elderly? if you want dignity and respect in your old age, sign this petition and help raise the standard for our own futures and those of our parents now.
