This Politician Is Stoking Gay Hate and Putting People's Lives at Risk. Recall Ted Hickman Today.

Dixon, California's Vice Mayor Ted Hickman fancies himself a comedian. The only problem is he's not funny, he's hateful.

Last Friday, apparently perturbed by a minority group celebrating their hard-earned rights, freedoms, and pride, Hickman penned an offensive op-ed in the local newspaper calling for July to be "Straight People Awareness Month." Add Ted to the list of other ignorant and privileged men in power who have similarly asked why there isn't a "White History Month" or a "Men's Rights Movement."

Apart from his cluelessness, his column was just plain callous. In it he calls gay people "tinker bells" and "faries" (sic), refers to Gay Pride Month as LGBTQF-WTF month and even implies that gay people don't care about their country.

"[Straight people] honor our country and our veterans who have made all of this possible (including for the tinker bells) and we can do it with actual real pride, not some put on a show just to help our inferior complex 'show we are different' type of crap."

Now Dixon residents, among others, are demanding a recall to get this bigot out of office. While everyone has a "right to their opinion," when someone in power begins to mock and denigrate a minority publicly, they put a target on their back that can have devastating consequences. The entire country has witnessed what happens when the most powerful man in the world stands up for white pride, targets trans people and labels immigrants as animalsinnocent people are hurt, or worse.

Hickman should not be allowed to continue in office. His hate and his ignorance are not worthy of his political position.

Please sign the petition and demand that the Dixon Mayor and city council remove Hickman from office.
