Stop The Dangerous Anti-Choice Bill In South Carolina

"Two wrongs don't make a right."

That's what South Carolina State Senator Richard Cash said in defense of his bill that would ban abortion, even in the case of child rape.

Cash's remarks are callous but the bill he wants to pass known as the Personhood Act is even worse. Personhood is the word commonly used to describe the conservative belief that life begins at conception. With this reasoning, the termination of pregnancy isn't an abortion, it is murder.

This bill would effectively make any and all abortions illegal in South Carolina, criminalizing women and medical professionals and forcing the procedure to go underground. If this law passes South Carolina women who wish to have an abortion would either be forced to do so illegally in the shadows or leave the state.

What's worse is the measure makes no exceptions for rape, incest or even when the mother's life is in danger. Essentially, a doctor could be forced to let his patient die in order to save the "life" of her embryo.

For years South Carolina has attacked the rights of women to have safe and legal abortions, In 2016, the state banned abortions at 20 weeks of pregnancy or later. Now, this is just one more example of their war on women's rights.

Please don't let South Carolina strip women of their right to choose. Sign the petition and tell the governor and state legislatures to reject the Personhood act.
