Don't Stop Public Schools from Teaching About Islam!
In response to parental complaints, Republican lawmaker Sheila Butt introduced a bill that would prohibit the teaching of Islamic topics and other issues the state considers "religious doctrine" to students before grade 10.
Teaching world religions helps students to understand what other cultures believe. As all major world religions are given equal attention, it is not a form of indoctrination or pushing any religion on students. If anything, it helps students to balance out the prejudiced messages they hear about Islam and other faiths with factual information about what followers of these religions believe.
Please sign the petition to urge Tennessee lawmakers to vote "no" on this bill to stop public schools from teaching about Islam and other world religions.
