Stop Sign on American and Brown

Dear Northern Liberties Residents:

My name is David Bercovitch and I live at the American Estates, a small development on the
corner of American and Brown. I am writing to ask for your support to have a all way stop sign
placed at the intersection of American and Brown. Please take a moment to read the following
and sign the enclosed petition!

The intersection of American and Brown is very dangerous and here are some reasons why.
Poor visibility when traveling south bound on American Street. When you are traveling south bound on American Street, parked cars block visibility of Brown Street. As a result you have to enter the intersection blindly just to see cars coming down Brown. This creates a very hazard driving condition.

Brown Street is a high traffic street. Many cars travel down Brown Street and there is a stop
sign at almost every intersection along Brown Street. The intersection of American and Brown
is one of the few intersections with Brown that does not have a stop sign. As a result driver's
are inattentive to the dangerous intersection, again creating a hazardous driving condition.

The stop sign on American street is on the wrong side of the road.
Typically, traffic control signs are on the same side as the direction of travel. This is not the
case for the intersection of American and Brown. The stop sign for American Street is on the
opposite side of the street as you come down American Street. It makes the stop sign harder
to observe creating an unnecessary hazard.

As a result of the aforesaid, the intersection has seen many car accidents. In the last two (2)
weeks there have been three (3) car accidents alone! The Northern
Liberties Community needs an all-way stop sign at the intersection of American and Brown.

To get the City of Philadelphia to take this issue seriously we need to show our City
Councilmen that the issue matters to us. There is no better way to do that then signing the
enclosed petition.

Your help and support by signing this petition is greatly needed!
Thank you,

David M. Bercovitch, Esq.
