A tiny fox cub is being cared for at an animal shelter
after she was brought back from death's door.
The week-old animal, who has been named Lira by staff, was found unconscious,
freezing and starving by a man in his back garden.
The man took her to his local vet and critically-ill Lira, who weighs just 7ozs, ended up at Wildlives Rescue Centre in Thorrington,
near Colchester, Essex in the nick of time.
Before being brought to the shelter, Lira had never even opened her eyes.
The charity are now nursing the fox cub back to health.
The rescue centre's owner Rosie Catford said that Lira's mother was almost certainly dead.
