Coloured is a race!

For many years, South African Coloureds have heard that we were conceived by rape. That we don't belong in South Africa. We are products of stereotypes. People call us gangsters and they ridicule us. Apartheid ended in 1994, It's 2020 and Coloureds are still being oppressed. We are not looking for recognition. We just want respect. We are human too. Coloureds always support other's and are always there for any injustices and discrimination against others, but when there is injustice against us, there is no support. Instead we are being dragged and stereotyped and that our culture doesn't exist. We are more than our brown skin. We are more than our coily hair and false teeth. We are more than our broken homes and gangster family members. More than our drug addicted parents. We do matter. We just want to be respected. Treated with dignity. We want the Coloured culture to be seen as a race. We want the forms we fill in to have our race. We are not Black, we are Coloureds. That's all.
