Trump's 'War Department' Rebrand Isn't Just Stupid. It Could Also Cost Billions.

For a man who claims to be obsessed with reducing unnecessary government spending (a la DOGE), Donald Trump sure knows how to find ways for the United States to waste money.

Trump's newest passion project is to rebrand the Department of Defense to the 'Department of War.' This is not only an embarrassing and troubling symbolic gesture to the rest of the world; it could cost billions of dollars in taxpayer money.

Sign now to tell the Trump Administration: abandon this rebrand project!

Pentagon officials noted that there are over 700,000 Defense Department facilities in 40 countries and all 50 states. If the name of the department changes, it will result in rebranding and producing hundreds of thousands - if not millions - of labelled products used in these buildings, from napkins and keychains to embroidered jackets and signage.

This is a massive waste, both literally in terms of "Department of Defense" items that will now need to be trashed and in terms of the cost for creating more products. It's almost like Donald Trump doesn't actually care about wasteful federal expenditures at all.

The move also has symbolic implications. Defending a country from threats is one thing. But naming a government department the 'Department of War' also signals something dangerous about the Trump Administration's policy goals, both foreign and domestic. When threatening to send National Guard troops to the city of Chicago, Trump even posted on his social media site, warning that the city was "about to find out why it's called the Department of WAR."

For someone who billed himself as the "President of Peace," he's showing a strong propensity towards the exact opposite.

The Trump Administration must not rebrand the Defense Department! Sign the petition now if you agree!
