Give proper retirement to military service dogs, don't put them to sleep!

Two dogs named Brus the Belgian shepherd and Blade the German shepherd were loyal guard dogs and protectors for Prince Williams while he was at the Royal Air Force base.  Unfortunately, the military decided to put the dogs down when Prince Williams’ duty was complete rather than try to rehome them or make an attempt to retire them with special handlers.

“To be clear they were RAF Valley security patrol dogs, not sole protection for Prince William,” a military source told London’s Daily Mail. "The department's policy is to rehome all military working dogs at the end of their service life wherever practicable. Regrettably, however, there are occasions when they have to be put down. This action is only ever taken as a last resort.”

So why did they not try to find a home for the dogs or at the least grant them a proper retirement to live the rest of their lives? These beautiful and loyal beings should have been honored and reciprocated for the service they provided through a happy retirement rather than just putting them down. It is sad to think that perfectly healthy, loyal trusting military service dogs can just be disposed of if no longer needed to serve. Brus and Blade had a few good years left after serving their time guarding Prince Williams; they should have received a proper retirement after duty was completed! Please sign and share in honor and support of retiring these loyal service dogs to live healthy happy lives after the military!

The Royal British Military and Ministry of Defense – You need to change your laws and regulations regarding service military dogs.  Once they have completed their tour of duty, it is sad and disgusting that you can just toss them like yesterday’s garbage!  Putting them down after their loyal service is unjust!!  Create a proper retirement program for the dogs in honor of their loyalty of service!  They provide a great service and duty to the military and should be reciprocated by living a happy, healthy retirement!!
