Protecting Sharks and Oceans Start From You And Me

When you think of sharks, your first impression might be that they have fangs which can pierce people and they won’t let go of any creatures. Sharks’ ferocious impression remains in everyone’s heart. But in fact, it isn’t. Studies have shown that sharks are the last threat to humans. Compared with a person being attacked by a shark, nearly 2 million sharks have been killed by humans. We kill about 73 million sharks every year, and 25% of shark species are threatened with extinction.

First, sharks are often caught by mistake because they are trapped in fishing nets and fishing lines. The main purpose of these cables is actually to catch tuna and other fish, but because sharks are easily confused with tuna, they are often injured by accident and cause their deaths.

In addition, sharks are also made into nutritional supplements, pet food, and moisturizing cosmetics. Humans love to eat "shark fins" also becomes one of the reasons why sharks are on the verge of extinction. Many sharks that were thrown back into the sea after their fins were cut off. This made them suffer too much blood loss and were unable to swim and maintain their balance in the sea. They were exhausted and sank to the bottom of the sea or were eaten by other fish. However, according to the research, the shark fin does not actually contain any high-value nutrients, and the marine pollutants remaining in the shark's body may also damage the human nervous system.

Sharks are at the top of the food chain. They are both predators and scavengers. By preying on weak and uncompetitive creatures, they keep the marine ecology in balance and promote biological evolution. Without sharks, the ecosystem will lose balance and begin to collapse.

People happily enjoying shark dishes and using related products are actually leading to the pain of sharks being brutally killed. And it indirectly affects the entire marine ecology. Therefore, we are here to issue a petition. Please do not ignore the pain that sharks face in order to satisfy appetite or other needs. Your indifference will indirectly encourage fishermen to continue persecuting sharks. In contrast, actually putting into action and refusing to eat shark-made food or using shark-related products are the only methods to free sharks from cruel treatment. Moreover, the resources of nature are precious and limited. Humans should cherish and use them in a reasonable manner, otherwise we must usher in the counterattack of nature!
