Please sign this petition to STOP 7-Eleven From Opening on Plandome Rd!
7-Eleven is trying to open a new store at 260 Plandome Rd, just north of Bank of America (formerly Pace Automotive). Please add your name below to let the TONH Board of Zoning Appeals know that a 7-Eleven is not welcomed on our main street! A Town BZA public hearing is not yet scheduled, but we need to act NOW and STRONGLY to oppose this application!
Dear Board of Zoning Appeals, Town of North Hempstead,
We, the residents of Manhasset and surrounding areas, request that the TONH BZA deny the application from 7-Eleven to allow a conditional use permit for retail food sales submitted for the property located at 260 Plandome Road. A 7-Eleven will further erode the safety of residents as well as be adverse to the character of our neighborhood downtown "main street", Plandome Rd.
- A 7-Eleven will negatively impact our Manhasset quality of life and character of our downtown neighborhood.
- A 7-Eleven will increase traffic, attracting substantially more cars at ALL HOURS of the day and night than the current automotive shop/parking lot, including many that will make a LEFT turn entering and exiting from Plandome Road. A resident pedestrian was very recently killed on that same block; any increased traffic further endangers our community - both pedestrians and drivers!
- An entrance/exit is proposed to Hillcrest Ave, a small, residential street, that increases danger to the safety of children by increasing customer and commercial vehicular traffic.
