Trump Won't Let Syrian Refugees Into the US, But He Will Use Their Suffering as an Excuse for War

It's the epitome of hypocrisy. Trump, acting without legal approval of the US Congress, along with the UK and France launched 100 missiles headed to Syria. This was in response to the apparent chemical attack on Syrian civilians. The hypocrisy is that Trump and the US only allowed 11 Syrian refugees in last year since the last chemical attack. For Trump to claim he cares about Syrian civilians is simply not true.

Sign and share if you'd like to see the US take in more Syrian refugees now — especially now that that the US and allies have so aggressively attacked them.

The attack also seems to be unconstitutional. The founding fathers expressly did not want the power of war to exist only in the executive branch and this is a perfect example of why. It should not be this simple for one person to wage such destruction — particularly for a leader an unstable as Trump. The choice to do that needs to be in the legislature. Yet we see Trump bragging about how perfect the strike was. In reality, this strike changes the world political and war landscape. Syrian ally Russia is very angry and we could see worldwide response to this action.

The whole thing is a pretty big mess but it's especially atrocious for Trump to claim he cares about Syrian civilians, then do an aggressive military strike, all while not allowing any of the affected civilians to come to safety in the US.

We can't change the fact that the US, UK, and France have just escalated an already heightened and devastating conflict. We can, however, urge the US to take in more of the innocent people stuck in the middle of it all.

Please sign on to ask for more Syrian refugees to be allowed into the US.
