This friend has been a victim of the prison system for 24 years although he has never killed anyone, or done anything that merits what he is going through.
I hope you will stand with me in our efforts to send this petition to the governor of Massachusetts, the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, and the FBI in an attempt to shut this torture down in this one prison.
Based on a letter, received from a prisoner at Souza Baranowski prison in Shirley, Massachusetts (SBSS), who s name will remain anonymous for his own protection, and based on similar stories we have heard from other former prisoners at this facility, we strongly believe that some of the guards at SBCC are 1. starving their prisoners who are in solitary 2. torturing them 3. stealing their canteens 4. spraying them with tear gas, and even defecating / urinating in food. We feel that 23 hours in lock down, by themselves seems like punishment enough and there is no need for these guards to torture their prisoners as they are unable to fend for themselves. This one prisoner who wrote this letter, wrote it to a friend of his entire family. This man has never killed anyone, and simply wants to serve the rest of his sentence in peace. This is a good family of hard working middle class Massachusetts folk who have spent countless hours worried that their flesh and blood is being tortured. We stand united in this request: the guards in this prison are investigated at once. If there is any truth to this accusation, that there are ramifications for brutally torturing the very people they are supposed to take care of.
