Help Make Estuary Park Oakland's Gateway To The Bay

The Friends of Estuary Park is a coalition of organizations and individuals that are dedicated to increasing public access to the Bay at Estuary Park. We'd like to see Estuary Park become Oakland's waterfront gathering place, especially for Oakland's youth, with a wide range of water sports and aquatic activities. Achieving that goal is now possible with the planned redevelopment of the park by the City of Oakland. In the next several months, the City will create a site plan that will determine what's built in the park. Friends Of Estuary Park is advocating for these additions to the park's site plan:

  • Build a facility for dragon boats, kayaking, sailing, paddle boarding, canoeing and other aquatic programs. By doing that, the Jack London Aquatic Center and its facilities can be rededicated to rowing and paddling, its original purpose. This makes it possible to get hundreds of Oakland's youth into school and community rowing programs.
  • To support increased access and use of the Estuary, it's necessary to replace the small boat dock, which is past its useful life.
  • Build an accessible, safe bath facility where people can shower and change their clothers after being on the water.

Complete this petition to add your support for making the changes needed to redevelop Estuary Park into a safe and enjoyable way to get on the Oakland Estuary. This petition will be presented to the Mayor and each member of the Oakland City Council.
