Ask Animal Planet Not to Promote a Show Depicting Wolves as Man-eating Monsters

Please sign and share this petition in an effort to stop the Animal Planet Network from promoting and airing reruns of their recent special, "Man-Eating Super Wolves." Stereotyping these animals is so untrue and unfair to them and their existence.

Wolves are so misunderstood and displaced. With the progress in our society, wolves are being forced out of their own habitats and depicted as monsters because of their natural instincts to protect themselves. However, protecting what is theirs does not involve hurting and eating humans. This is so far from the truth. Although there have been some instances where a wolf may have been threatened, the frequency of attacks on humans is very rare. Such attacks depend on historical periods and geographic locations.

In areas where humans exist, wolves most often stay away and in fact try to avoid any people contact. Yet Animal Planet wants to depict them as man-eating monsters. Such a "label" would denote that these animals specifically target and look for humans to bite and eat! Yes, they do have razor sharp teeth and killer instincts when hunting for prey to survive but they are not typically on the hunt for their next human. I know I would not want to meet a wolf face-to-face but a little threat towards them, through some type of loud noise and the wolf would run off.

Animal Planet is a wonderful resource for educating the public about wildlife but it is wrong to stereotype this animal as a monster. Instead, educate people on the wolf and how to scare them off in the event of an encounter. Your pets may be in danger only because these animals do not know the difference between a dog, cat or animals of prey. But wolves don't prey on humans. Please sign and share this petition in an effort to stop the Animal Planet Network from depicting wolves as man-eating monsters. Stereotyping these animals is so untrue and unfair to them and their existence.

Animal Planet Network - You do deserve a lot of credit for all the wonderful education you provide to your viewers about various wildlife. Many of us having been watching you forever and appreciate your programming. However, you are being very unfair to depict the wolf as a man-eating monster during monster week TV. Please reconsider this program and do not air them as such. The wolf numbers are indeed increasing and could put other animals in peril as they hunt for their prey but they do not seek out humans to harm them. There may be an occasional threat to a human as we invade their territory, but rarely since they are more fearful of people and usually avoid them. Making them look like man-eating monsters makes it sound as though they are hunting to purposely eat humans! Do not air this show making them look like what they are not!

Update #19 years ago
Yay! We did it! The program has been pulled off the air - thank you all! As you can see, we did it!
