Say NO to West Hartford's "pay as you throw" program

John Phillip's, the West Hartford director of public works, is pushing to implement a "pay as you throw" trash removal plan for our town. As a resident of West Hartford, taxes have increased drastically in the last ten years while services offered by the town have gone WAY down. Phillip's is now proposing sending representatives of the trash company into your property to view bags provided by the trash company to see if you are using the program. If they deem that you are non-compliant, then a town enforcement officer is sent to your house to impose fines against you. This unnecessary, intrusive and a burden to the lives of those seeking to live life without government over reach. My solution to this problem is more responsible spending by the town. This program will do nothing to curb the amount of garbage people need to dispose of. It will, however create another source of revenue for the town to spend.
