Stop the Slaughter of Young Seabirds

NatureScot has granted licences for the slaughter of young gannets on Sula Sgeir in the north west of Scotland. The hunt is a tradition started in the 15th century when meat was a scarce and expensive commodity. The hunt was halted for the last 3 years due to the devastating impact on the gannet population following the outbreak of avian flu.

The gannet population has been, and still is, badly affected by avian flu and this hunt is both cruel and unnecessary given the fact that the gannet population has not yet recovered from the avian flu outbreak.

Ask NatureScot to withdraw the licence immediately to save the young gannets from this cruel fate.
