Requesting Jersy Meadows Improve Intersection Light

Due to the recent construction and the likliehood of higher traffic loads on 53rd Street due to the arrival and Costco and soon Portillos, out entrance to Jersey Meadows will become a more dangerous intersection to navigate in and out of our complex.  Many of us have already experienced the frustration of the signal light which will not always change properly or in a timely manner.  Many of have sat at the light for several minutes while oncoming traffic from Lorton trips the light and is given the green while Jersey Meadow's traffic still is left to sit and go through more red cycles.  Many of us have sat through countless green lights during the construction while east bound drivers clog the intersection during construction not allowin Jersey Meadow residents out even when the light is green for us.  It is time that Elevate management take up this issue on the collective behalf of its residents for the safety and for convenient access and exit of our rental units.

We, the undersigned collectively state the issues request the following actions from Elevate/Jersey Meadows management on behalf their tenants:

1) The light at the complex entrance does not always change in a timely manner and often goes through several count down cycles while waiting to make right turns onto 53rd Street. After waiting several cycles of the light counting down but not turning, residents are forced to make a break for it through busy traffic to get out of Jersey Meadows. Elevate/Jersey Meadows management should negotiate with the City of Davenport to repair or upgrade the light at the Jersey Meadows/Lorton Ave and 53rd St. intersection before the added traffic of the newly constructed Costco and Portillos becomes a further aggravating factor.

2) As oncoming traffic approaches from Lortan Ave., it can trip the light almost immediately even though cars already waiting from Jersey Meadows Apts. were unsuccessfully able to trip the light for several minutes. The light then allows only the Northbound Lorton traffic to proceed never turning green for Southbound or turning traffic from Jersey Meadows Apts. The Elevate/Jersey Meadows management should negotiate with the City of Davenport to repair this issue or upgrade the light before the increased traffic flow from Costco and Portillos becomes a further aggravating factor.

3) When traffic has been obstructed, Jersey Meadows residents at times have not been able to exit the premises on green traffic signals because backed up traffic has blocked the intersection at 53rd St. As the traffic situation has been complicated during construction of Costco and will likely be further obstructed during the addition of the shopping complex housing Potillos, we request that Elevate/Jersey Meadows management negotiate with the City of Davenport to post signs prior to the intersection from both east and west bound lanes not to block the intersection on red lights or stopped traffic as the increased traffic flow from these businesses will likely cause further crowding at this intersection.
