We, the undersigned, are in favour of no character deaths in Series 6 of Skins. Whilst we understand that this is a decision up to you and your fellow writing team, we feel that a third death of a main character would be unnecessary.
Firstly, although we found Chris' death plausible, we think Freddie's was too far-fetched, and whilst we understand that you like to maintain a sense of unpredictability and, also, don't claim that the show is completely realistic, we found it over-the-top and would prefer the show to have more realism.
Secondly, we would prefer to return to the more light-hearted side of
Skins. Of course it needs its dark moments, but in both Series 2 and Series 4, the dark far outweighed the light, and we feel there should be more of a balance. We don't mind some angst, but we don't always want the last series of each generation to end on a dark note.
Thirdly, we feel that three deaths in a row would be predictable. We don't want it to become a pattern in
Skins. We are aware that deaths do occur in teenage life, and we appreciate you showing this side of things, but it doesn't occur in every group of friends and we feel that it would be preferable to focus on something different.
Thank you for taking the time to read our petition. It is greatly appreciated, and we hope you'll consider some of the points we have made.
