Stop Nevada Horse Round-Up

The Bureau of Land Management  is planning a helicopter stampede to roundup and remove 630 wild horses this summer from the Jackson Mountains Herd Management Area in northwestern Nevada.

The BLM claims water and forage shortages justify the removal of horses from this area, but have made no plans to reduce livestock grazing or stocking rates where the BLM allocates 4-6 times more forage to livestock than wild horses in this federally-designated Herd Management Area.

There is no data or documentation to justify this round-up requiring emergency removal of horses. After a helicopter stampede, horses will then become dehydrated after the exertion and trauma in the summer heat.

We oppose the removal of horses from the Jackson Mountains Herd Management Area in northwestern Nevada. Reduce and limit the amount of livestock instead.
