Tell the Bronx Zoo - Send Happy to an elephant santuary!

HAPPY, (or more appropriately, unHAPPY) is a lone elephant remaining at the Bronx Zoo. Elephants are social animals but unHAPPY has been alone since her former cellmate, Sammy died in 2006, leaving unHAPPY alone. The zoo has since then reexamined their elephant policy to focus on endangered elephants in the wild, meaning they won't secure any further elephants, leaving unHAPPY in a solitary environment..
While the Zoo should be commended for helping endangered elephants in the wild, what about the well-being of unHAPPY, the elephant that remains in their keeping? Is it humane and caring to keep a social animal, as an elephant, in a solitary environment? It would be similiar to keeping a dog, another social animal, chained or fenced in a yard with no other canine or human companionship.
The Zoo has expressed concern that if unHAPPY, were sent to an Elephant Sanctuary, that she may not get along with other elephants. I think she would be overjoyed to finally have companionship, possibly friendship after almost TEN years in solitary.
Sign this petition so that unHAPPY, can enjoy companionship and perhaps joy before she dies.
