Beaten to Death and Buried Alive — Demand Justice for Murdered Dogs

Dogs — including 14 puppies — beaten with stones and buried alive.

That's the horrifying sight that awaited local law enforcement and animal welfare champions who'd received word that the dogs had been killed by locals in Dhaka, Bangladesh. The crowd was reportedly led by a private security guard.

Claims that the animals were killed only after biting a local child could not be confirmed. But — for whatever reason — locals decided to help the security dog brutally kill the animals. The older, female dogs were beaten with stones. Their pups were reportedly placed in a sack and bashed violently and repeatedly. After, those animals who were still breathing were buried alive.

This kind of severe animal cruelty has been banned in Bangladesh since 1920. And local authorities need to send a powerful message against private culling of potentially dangerous animals — for the safety of both the public and potentially innocent animals.

Local authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the security guard, but he does not appear to be the only person who abused these animals. That's why Care2 is calling on the inspector general of the Bangladesh Police Department — the very highest level of law enforcement in the country — to expand the investigation to include other suspects implicated in this heinous dog killing and to improve animal cruelty incident monitoring.

Your signature today will demonstrate international support for anti-cruelty efforts. And, with improved incident monitoring, police can then adopt more effective strategies to prevent, find, and punish animal cruelty.

Help secure justice for these abused dogs and prevent future animal abuse. Add your name now.
