All trucker drivers and trucking companies should have the same rules that need to be followed, some companies shouldn't have an advantage over other companies. Right now the ELD mandate is allowing some business to slide by the new law. I believe that not every truck driver should be punished by others wrong doings. If a truck driver has unsafe reporting or has received a violation they should be the ones who have to have a ELD. We don't punish everyone for dui and have breathalyzers in all cars. If they change the rule then the drivers doing wrong will have to ELD and the economic growth in the us wont be slowed down as much. You wont see trucks pulled over on the side of highway making unsafe conditions for them selves and others. Everyone is suppose to be treated equal in the U.S. How is it equal when some companies are exempt from the ELD because of the load that they carry. They don't have to be safe because they have live stock or food they haul, they have an advantage because they are exempt from the rule. Be fair about what going on out their not every trucker is as fault for the deaths or the accidents that have happen. the truck drivers who are at fault should be the ones who pay for being unsafe.
