Stop Circus Elephant Torture

Call on the USDA to revoke Ringling Bros and Barnum & Bailey circus’ exhibitors' licence and carry out a full investigation.

PETA recently released shocking photos of elephants being tortured during training and before performances. In a bid to ‘show them who’s boss’ the elephants are subjected to beatings and electrical shocks, gouged with sharp metal rods, and forced to perform painful tricks.

For what the organizers call, “The Greatest Show on Earth”, these poor animals are forced to live in deplorable conditions; chained and in cramped boxcars, and without any physical or mental stimulation, causing them to become frustrated.

Mass demonstrations have taken place outside the circus, which is performing for seven nights in Los Angeles. Tell the USDA that this abhorrent treatment must be stopped once and for all.

We the undersigned support the call for “an immediate investigation and initiate criminal action against Ringling and all other culpable parties as well as permanent revocation of the circus's exhibitor license.”

The photos and testimonies released by PETA depict animal cruelty of the worst kind. Young elephants are effectively tortured during training and before performances. This includes the use of electric shocks, gauging them with sharp metal rods, tying their legs together, forcefully separating them from their mothers.

Please take action to prevent more needless suffering of young and defenceless elephants.

Thank you for your attention.
